Things are changing
2026 brings us to a position where we need a bit of a rethink.
Basically things with the CIC have gotten a bit too successful. If we continue as we have been we would almost certainly pass the threshold for registering for VAT next year. And that’s just a step too far for something we’re doing for fun!
Given that 99% of the money we deal with is for the accommodation at Searles the plan is to shift to having everyone book directly so Searles will handle the deposits, the allocation and the payment collection – and the VAT!
At the same time, we are switching to a club model. The only real difference this will make is that everyone who wants to attend any of our events will need to join the Wyrdsisters Games Club instead of paying a registration fee.
This will let us change our insurance to a club/society policy which has a few admin advantages behind the scenes. Membership will be on an annual basis and will entitle you to attend any event run by Wyrdsisters that year. There will be no additional admission charges however many events we organise.
Members will be given a code to quote when they contact Searles (or any other venue we use) to book. Non-members will not be allowed on site. We can still offer early booking to GMs and Volunteers and the community fund will still be available to help people who need it.
Hopefully this will make things simpler.
